Age Verification
Who is allowed to play with us?
Sault Ste. Marie Casino is for adults aged 19+ only. No exception applies to any part of our service.
- Every account must belong to a verified adult aged 19+.
- An adult may not open an account for, or share an account with, anyone under 19.
- Anyone under 19 is blocked from Live Casino, the Lobby, Promotions and Jackpots, free-to-play features included.
- We direct marketing at adults only and never place it where it targets young people.
How is my age confirmed?
Age is checked before any money reaches an account. Our process works in layers:
- You give your date of birth at registration, and anyone under 19 is stopped at that point.
- Before any deposit, we run an electronic KYC check against trusted data sources and confirm your location.
- Should our electronic check be unable to verify your age, the account cannot accept a deposit until you submit valid government-issued photo ID.
- We repeat checks whenever account details, payment methods or behaviour suggest the user may not be the adult who registered.
Our Verification and AML page lists the documents we accept.
What do we do when an account is used by a minor?
- The account is closed immediately and blocked from reopening.
- Every bet placed is voided and all winnings are cancelled.
- Deposits are refunded, where legally permitted, to whichever payment method made them in the first place.
- We examine linked accounts, devices and payment methods and close any that are involved.
- Where an adult account holder allowed the use, that adult's account is also closed.
Which tools help parents block gambling sites?
A few simple settings at home can make it far harder for children to access any gambling site:
- Device parental controls: Windows, macOS, iOS and Android all include settings that restrict websites, purchases and apps.
- App store limits: set age classification limits so gambling apps cannot be downloaded.
- Router or network filtering: many home routers and internet service providers include settings that block gambling websites on every device that connects to your network.
- Blocking software: dedicated gambling-blocking programs stop access across browsers and apps.
- Safe search: turn on safe search in each browser and search engine your children use.
How can I protect children on a shared device?
Any tablet or laptop that several family members share calls for some added caution:
- Never allow your browser to remember the password for your casino account.
- Log out fully at the end of each session.
- Give every child their own profile on the device, each with its own limits.
- Lock the screen with a fingerprint or PIN that nobody else knows.
- Do not store card or e-wallet details on devices children use.
- Keep Live Casino streams and Jackpots screens out of children's view.
The account holder answers for all activity on the account, as set out in our Player Agreement.
How do I report a concern?
If you think someone younger than 19 has access to an account with us, or you would like assistance putting blocks in place at home, write to [email protected]. Every report is handled in confidence and followed up. Free support organisations, such as GameSense and ConnexOntario, are listed on our Staying in Control page, and our Privacy Policy sets out how we treat the information we hold.
